Professor Klassen is the author and editor of several books dealing with labour market policy both in Asia and in Canada. His most recent co-edited volumes are The Routledge Handbook of Global Public Policy and Administration (forthcoming) and Retirement in Japan and South Korea:
The Past, the Present and the Future of Mandatory Retirement (2015). He is currently co-editor of a volume in progress titled The Routledge Handbook of Ageing and Old Age In Asia-Pacific.
During 2014-16 he was Visiting Professor at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. In 2011 he was Invited Visiting Researcher at the Korea Labor Institute. His current research interest is on income security policy, and the welfare state, in comparative context, particularly South Korea.
For the past two years he has been teaching a Summer Study Abroad course in Seoul, South Korea. The course allows York University undergraduate students to live and study in South Korea for a month, while earning six credits.
