Janice Phonepraseuth

Janice is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Sociology. Her research interests are in race and ethnicity, immigration, and identities. Janice's doctoral research focuses on the racial and ethnic identities of 1.5 and 2nd generation East and Southeast Asian youth. Her dissertation will compare how youth navigate racialization and the model minority stereotype, with the aim of highlighting lived experiences, hyphenated identities, and Asian representation. In addition to working on her dissertation, Janice is obtaining YCAR's Graduate Diploma in Asian Studies (GDAS).
