Nalini Persram

Nalini Persram is Associate Professor in the Department of Social Science and Co-coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Social Science program. She has published in the areas of feminist theory, international political theory, Caribbean society and culture, and postcolonialism.An ongoing project of hers is 'Slumming to Another Drum,' a documentary film that focuses on entrepreneurial innovation and cultural creation in Asia's largest slum, Dharavi, in Mumbai. Her more long-term project involves the relation between concept formation and the phenomenological-neurological-somatic,and the meeting of Indian and Euro-American science. Currently she is working with a Yemeni scholar on the project, “The Rape of Sheba and the Saudi Starvation of Yemen.’
