Dana Osborne

Dr. Dana Osborne is Assistant Professor of Anthropology in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Ryerson University and is affiliated with the Yeates School of Graduate Studies as well as the York Centre for Asian Research. A linguistic anthropologist by training, her research has focused on the dynamics of language contact and change among speakers of the ethnolinguistic minority language of Ilocano in the northernmost region of the Philippine archipelago. Current and emerging projects focus on the linguistic impacts of movement and diaspora on speakers from the Philippines, codemixing and switching, linguistic joking and taboo, reflexive anthropological writing, and ethnographic film. Dr. Osborne is currently accepting graduate students.
