Arnisson Andre C. Ortega
I am a human geographer and critical demographer, with interests on urbanization, migration, GIS, counter-mapping, spatial statistics, and socio spatial theory. My recent interests have interrogated the ways in which transnational mobilities have facilitated the production of new urban spaces in Global South contexts.
I was an Urban Studies fellow at York University’s City Institute in Toronto and was part of the Global Suburbanisms Project. I taught in the University of the Philippines for several years and received my PhD from the University of Washington in Seattle. I am currently a research fellow at the University of Glasgow's GCRF Centre for Sustainable, Healthy and Learning Cities and Neighbourhoods.
