Su Huai, a doctoral student in the Science and Technology Studies program at York University, specializes in the transnational history of nineteenth-century Chinese and British science, with a particular emphasis on scientific translation. Her dissertation will delve into the works of Yan Fu and John Fryer, prominent scientific translators in imperial China, analyzing their contributions within the social, political, economic and cultural contexts in which they operated. Before her doctoral studies, Su Huai earned a BA in Information and Communication Studies from the University of New Brunswick and an MPA from Queen’s University, in addition to a Master of Science degree, with a focus on International Social Change and Policy.
