I am engaged in research dealing with the rapid changes in manufacturing, especially in the motor vehicle industry. Change results from [i] technological progress, [2] new capabilities in developing countries that alter comparative advantage [3] evolution of global supply chains, [4] environmental concerns, [5]business cycles, including the current severe economic and financial crisis, [6] trade liberalization or increased protection and [7] foreign exchange rate movements. My research on the automotive industry includes keeping a breast of what is happening in North America, Europe, Japan, Korea, China, India and South America.
