Megan Whitney is a doctoral student in Human Geography at York University. Her doctoral research addresses questions of animal labour and workers’ struggles in the animal tourism industry, which she is pursuing through fieldwork in Thailand. Megan holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies (MES) from York University and an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Lakehead University. Megan is currently a member of the leadership team at the Toronto Humane Society, and has worked with Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand and Thunder Bay & District Humane Society to advocate for the well-being of animals and marginalized communities.
