Jessica Ellen Ticar is a Ph.D. Candidate in Critical Policy, Equity, and Leadership studies at the Faculty of Education, Western University. Jessica is investigating how Filipina/o youth achieve a transnational sense of identity and belonging in Toronto urban high schools, given their experiences of global migration through Canada’s Caregiver Program. This study intends to identify the social and educational needs of Filipina/o high school students in order to make recommendations to policy makers, educational systems, and social service agencies.
