Chandan Narayan earned a PhD from the University of Michigan and an NSF Postdoc from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a linguist with a specialization in phonetics and language development in infants. He is currently finishing up a SSHRC Standard Research Grant examining the acoustics of mothers' speech to infants in Tamil, Korean and Tagalog. A native Californian, Chandan arrives at York having taught for many years at the University of Toronto in Scarborough.
